Are you looking for a great neighborhood in Bethesda, Maryland? Charred Oak Estates is a cherry tree-lined neighborhood of just over 200 single family homes in West Bethesda, Maryland. Just outside the Capital Area Beltway, the large wooded lots of Charred Oak Estates range in size from 0.34 to 1.24 acres and offer backyard privacy and convenience to the entire DC Metropolitan Area.
Charred Oak Estates encompasses three developments built in the 1960’s and 1980’s, The first is a neighborhood of contemporary or mid-century modern homes. The second is a cherry-tree lined development consisting of colonial style homes, split levels, bi-levels, and ramblers. The third section, built in the 1980’s has large front lawns and, larger brick homes.
None of these neighborhoods are part of a Home Owner Association. There is a Charred Oak Estates Facebook Group, a West Bethesda 20817 Facebook Group and the West Bradley Citizens’ Association, which service the neighborhood.
Charred Oak Estates borders Tuckerman Park with a walking trail and creek, and is easily accessible to the residents whose yards do not border it via a few footpaths and a few entrances along nearby roads.
Charred Oak Estates is located on the western side of Bethesda, a city in Montgomery County. The public schools assigned to Charred Oak Estates include Seven Locks Elementary School (rated 10), Cabin John Middle School, (rated 9) and Winston Churchill High School (rated 10). There are many private schools nearby as well, including independent and parochial options that cater to pre-school age children through high school.
There are numerous grocery stores near Charred Oak Estates including Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter, Trader Joe’s, and Aldi, and several shopping centers including Cabin John Village, (formerly known as the Cabin John Center), Park Potomac, and Potomac Village. Westfield Montgomery Mall is less than 3 miles away and is surrounded by additional shopping, restaurants, parks, sports centers and a dog park.
