Possibly The Most Expensive Cup of Coffee

September 22, 2014

You may have read the title of this post and thought it was from my series of “Cup of Joe Reports”,  but this is not about my experience at coffee shops in the DC Metropolitan Area. It’s about what happened just outside of one.

I was in need of a good strong cup of coffee so I parked at the curb across the street from Tout de Sweet and put some money in the meter. When I returned a few minutes later with my coffee in hand, this is what I found.damage to my new truck

The whole driver side of my car was damaged.

I looked around to see if anyone had seen anything. A man in a nearby pick-up truck looked away as soon I looked at him. There were many people walking by who seemed to be waiting to see what I would do next. It seemed odd to me that so much damage could be caused in the time it took to get a cup of coffee.

That was when a kind gentleman came over and told me that he saw what happened. He said it was a large commercial truck that was parked nearby that had hit me. It was one of those huge trucks that has a lift on the back. When I went over to speak with the driver, the gentleman came with me. He told the driver he saw him hit my car. The driver was shocked because he had not felt the impact of the collision.

The driver called his employer and told them I had a witness. We exchanged insurance info and the witness gave me his name and number. The driver’s insurance has paid for my car to be repaired so all will work out in the end and this won’t actually be the most expensive coffee I’ve ever had. There reason this story has a happy ending is because of the great eye witness who came forward to help me. I really don’t know how to thank him.

If you or someone you know is looking for a home in the DC Metropolitan Area, give me a call to get started. Hopefully, I will have my car back when you call, but in the meantime, I have a great rental car.
